Even my Mom! is an invitation to discover what twenty women taught a man about gender violence, in the Chile of the 21st century. It is a non-fiction book that compiles true stories about bullying, abuse, discrimination, and homophobia.
Alejandro is 33 years old and is a Chilean man like many others. He used to say he knew little about gender violence, mostly because he did not feel close to it. That was until he was offered the opportunity to learn about the experiences that the women around him have had. To his surprise, all of them - his friends, colleagues, relatives - had a story to tell… Even his mom.
Monserrat Sepúlveda is the author who came up with the idea. Since she was a child, she had heard and spoken about this type of violence with other women. But when speaking with the men around her, she realized that they were not aware of these issues. "If they knew about our experiences, would they believe the true magnitude of the problem?”

About me
Hi! I’m a Chilean activist and author specialized in gender studies. After obtaining a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in International Studies from Soka University of America, I began my career and volunteer work with NGOs focused on human rights issues, located in Mozambique, China, Guatemala and Chile.
I had been living in Santiago for several years when I founded and started directing the social enterprise Tours with Meaning (2015-2020), organizing tours and trips that raised awareness about gender equality, sexual-affective diversity, interculturality, and the climate crisis. The pandemic caused the agency to shut down, but it gave me the opportunity to move to the Social Welfare Institute in the public sector and work to promote women’s rights in rural areas.
At the same time, I finished graduate courses in Gender, Public Policy and Organizational Management, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Gender Studies and International Relations at the University of Bristol in England. I am very proud to announce that Even my Mom! is my first book.
